I talk about LANCER a lot. Ask me if you want. Or not, I'm not a cop, but this blog is 18+ [Mod uses She/Her pronouns; if you have to ask me my age, I'm probably old enough to be your mom.]

Holy shit??

Don’t stop talking about the Palestinian genocide. IT’S WORKING.

[ID:

Behind the scenes, American officials also believe there is limited time for Israel to try to accomplish its stated objective of taking out Hamas in its current operation before uproar over the humanitarian suffering and civilian casualties — and calls for a ceasefire —reaches a tipping point.

In fact, there is recognition within the administration that that moment may arrive quickly: Some of the president’s close advisers believe that there are only weeks, not months, until rebuffing the pressure on the US government to publicly call for a ceasefire becomes untenable, sources told CNN.

Turn “weeks” into days. Into minutes. The fact that they’re projecting that far out is abhorrent when we all know what will happen in those weeks.

But, god.

Keep talking. Keep calling. Keep marching. Shout for the people of Palestine.

Just remember that they’re probably assuming that the outrage will die down somewhat, because we are all numb to this kind of shit at this point, right?…

WRONG.

Hey

Yeah, you see this up this reblog of mine

Yeah this is why i give this Gaza Genocide thing a few years of talking

Yes we are numb to this shit but were also kinda done

On Wednesday, huge crowds gathered after anti-trans organizers called for a “million man march” against transgender rights. Yet, it wasn’t the opponents of trans rights who predominantly showed up. Instead, crowds of supporters for transgender rights and teachers unions backing them flooded streets in cities such as Toronto, Vancouver, and Ottawa. Pride flags were raised in front of city buildings, and even Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, lent his voice in support. What was envisioned as a day to spotlight the “widespread opposition” to LGBTQ+ youth instead blossomed into a remarkable display of backing and unity for trans individuals across Canada.

A further observation:

While the counter-protesters were the people you’d expect, with the wide assortment of home-made signs you might expect, very many of the anti-trans protesters were holding identical-to-each-other signs provided by one of Canada’s right-wing populist parties, which gave half the space on their sign to advertising the party.

So, while on the one hand, there were people who cared about trans rights, on the other hand, there were people who cared about a right-wing populist political party.

The pattern continues. So often in order to have strength in numbers, right-wingers have to drive themselves to different locations across the country. Meanwhile, more left leaning protests are built spontaneously out of the local community and its allies. The right loves talking about “protestors getting bused in” but they themselves are the ones so often driving miles to harass someone else’s community.

This is how I feel about Joshua Trees. They and avocado trees produce fruit meant to be eaten and dispersed by giant ground sloths. Without them, the Joshua Trees’ range has shrunk by 90%.

(my own photos)

Not only they, but the entire Mojave ecosystem is still struggling to adapt since the loss of ground sloth dung. their chief fertilizer.

Many, many trees and plants in the Americas have widely-spaced, extremely long thorns that do nothing to discourage deer eating their leaves, but would’ve penetrated the fur of ground sloths and mammoths. Likewise, if you’ve observed a tree that drops baseball or softball-sized fruit which lies on the ground and rots, like Osage Oranges, which were great for playing catch at my school, chances are they were ground sloth or mammoth chow.

You can read about various orphaned plants and trees missing their megafauna in this poignant post:

First quote from the linked article. Found it poetic.

Oh, oh dear I think I may go mourn the loss of ancient species now

The world has lost 5% to 10% of all insect species in the last 150 years — or between 250,000 and 500,000 species.

Often when I go to research an interesting native flower, to see who that flower was meant to attract…I find that the plant now only propagates vegetatively, through clones. Likely, the original pollinator or pollinators are all gone. But this cloning

We’re surrounded by orphaned plants, and many weren’t orphaned long ago. They were orphaned recently, because of us. That’s just  reason why gardening with native plants is so critical. We have a responsibility to the plants and animals we share the land with, to plant things that insects can eat. To give them nesting habitat. To avoid poisons.

it sucks that the money you get to spend on like rent and gas is the same money that you get to spend on records and plushies. there should be a serious currency and a fun currency

I think all money should be fun money and the other stuff should be the government’s problem

Humans have finally managed to land on Mars, only to find a locked safe buried in the Martian soil. The key is apparently on Earth, but no one knows where.

The galactic council watched on to see how humanity would handle the task, much as they had with several species before. What the test was supposed to show was whether or not a species of violent nature could ever be brought to work together. They finally picked something up, another ship already headed to Mars? Was it possible humans were that clever to have found the key, maybe it was more specialists and equipment to analyze the locked crate to ensure it was safe to open. A few minutes after landing, they got another broadcast from the red planet.

“This is the LockPickingLawyer and today I’ve got something quite special, this locked alien chest. First of all I have to thank everyone who recommended me for the job, I’m honored that you all thought of me. Now let’s get to work”

The council representatives were confused as they started analyzing the translation, before even getting through the name he spoke something haunting

“Normally I don’t say things like this but this lock is quite unique, however with no security pins it will still be quite quick.”

“There we go, a click on 3… “

All the species of the galactic council sat dumbfounded, they spent many galactic cycles refining and perfecting their study and in all their time not a singular race had tried this method. Click after click, even in such an intricate lock the human had only spent around five minutes tampering with it.

“There we go, now while I can’t open this as part of my video I can say that I at least have a clue what the key should look like in case it ever gets locked again. I admire the design choices and the fact that at least it was harder to get open than anything Master Lock has made”
